Look what is in our driveway!!!

We are excited to finally be started on the new house. Septic guy has been a source of delay, as has the bank...dawdle, dawdle, dawdle. But Friday the builder came and put up the sign, and footings are on the schedule, hopefully, for the next week!

More trunk burning

Burning out the old tree trunk

In order to help get rid of the last remnant of the big tree, we have been burning brush in the trunk. Chris tried chainsawing around the edge to at least make it smaller... but that was hard on the chain saw and the chain sawer. The trunk would have made a nice smokehouse.

Sawmill Visit.

District Tournament Play

Here are a few pictures of Eli, playing this past weekend in the District Tournament. They did not place, but we all had fun watching and cheering.Eli is a solid, reliable player. He pitches well, he almost always gets a hit, he is fast around the bases and can steal quickly, and he gets strategy.

Eldest son...

Zach does not like playing ball.. he is more a fishing kid. Or basketball. Or fiddling with engines. He also like wood working. Shown here is the table he made in his woodworking class this spring at school. He has some final work to finish on it, but here it is on display.

I love the way he uses the color of the wood as part of the design. He also is drawn to these simple, elegant pieces. This table has a second shelf, which he needs to install.. this is the board you see standing. I think we will put this in the entry way of our new house...I can just see it with a nice vase of flowers on it. I had put the tea things on the table, then Zach came along and made sure they were all resting on something besides the table top.

Baseball...post season play.

Spring/Summer around here means baseball. Both Cooper and Eli love baseball. This spring, Cooper played his second year of Machine Pitch ball for Bailey's Landscaping. He was one of the best players on his team. As a result, he was chosen to play on the Red Wings All Star team. All week this week, they will play the Blue Sox All Stars each night. So far, the Blue Team won one game, and the Red Wings one another. Cooper has had some awesome plays. He hit 2 doubles in the first game, one of which brought in three runs! And in the second game, he hit nice singles every time at bat, and had a magnificent catch when he was playing pitcher. He came out of the pitching box and caught a huge pop up before it went foul...getting the third out of the inning.He is a good solid player.

Eli had a great season too. He played his last year for HYAA in the Schley league. He was the main pitcher for his team, Kaye Products. Chris was assistant coach for the team. They went into tournament play in third place, but managed to battle and battle to the bitter end. The beat the undefeated team last Saturday, and had one more battle with them Monday (double elimination tournament). They took the lead, then got tied, then lost...but second place was a great effort. Eli tried out for the district team and is playing for them at the same time. They have had several scrimmages already, but their first tournament play is this weekend. There has been/will be a lot of baseball going on here.

The pics are all of Cooper's All Star team... because the games have tended to be at the same time, on different fields, I have not been able to get pics of Eli.
